The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf you are running Word for Windows under Windows 3.1 and you are using Exact line spacing, underscore characters (_) or underline formatting either will not be displayed or will disappear when the text wraps to a new line. This problem does not affect printing; underscore characters print correctly even though they are not displayed. This is frequently seen with non-porportional True Type fonts.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
WORKAROUNDYou can work around this problem in Word 6.0 by using Raised spacing:
MORE INFORMATIONIf you set the line spacing to Exactly and select a measurement that is less than the automatic height of the font, underscore characters will not be displayed. For example, if you set line spacing to Exactly 9-point for a 10-point font, any underscore characters in this text will not be displayed.
