Overtype Mode Is Turned Off When You Exit Word for Windows

SYMPTOMS

If you activate the overtype feature in Microsoft Word for Windows, then exit Word for Windows, the overtype feature is no longer activated when you restart Word for Windows.

To toggle between overtype and insert mode, press the INS button.

WORKAROUND

Create the following AutoExec macro that switches to overtype mode each time you launch Word for Windows.

   Sub MAIN
   Overtype 1
   End Sub
