WD: Drop Caps Not Wrapping Around Framed Objects in MacWordLast reviewed: February 5, 1998Article ID: Q92851 |
The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARYIn Word for the Macintosh, if you insert a frame near a paragraph that contains a drop cap, the drop cap text does not wrap around the frame. Instead, the drop cap may overlap the frame. This happens because Word uses frame formatting to create a drop cap. As a result, the drop cap cannot wrap around the frame along with the rest of the paragraph text. This situation is similar to the problem described on page 416 of the "Microsoft Word User's Guide," in which two frames overlap if you assign them to the same position on the page.
WORKAROUNDTo reposition the drop cap, follow these steps:
MORE INFORMATIONWord for the Macintosh aligns the drop cap with the original left margin instead of the modified left margin that wraps around the frame. In Print Preview, you cannot select the Drop Cap, because it is hidden behind the framed object, so you cannot drag the Drop Cap to the correct position. Drop caps more frequently overlap framed objects in a multiple-column section.
