SUMMARYThis article describes a method you can use to simulate draft output when you print on a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet series printer, without changing the fonts in your Word for Windows document. This method changes the printer driver settings so your document prints using printer-resident fonts. The advantage of this method is faster printing speed. When you use this method, you do not need to format your document for a printer-resident font (such as Courier) to print quickly in a draft- output manner. Although your document remains formatted with the font listed on the ribbon, the screen display and the printed output change (see the "Notes" section below).
MORE INFORMATIONThis method applies to the following printer drivers:
Printer Driver Version(s) -------------- ---------- HPDSKJET.DRV (Microsoft driver) 1.1, 1.2, 2.0, 2.1 DESKJETC.DRV (HP driver) 3.0To simulate the draft output printing mode on an HP DeskJet printer, do the following:
Using a Microsoft Printer Driver
Using an HP Printer Driver
NotesWhen you print the document using either printer driver, the fonts change to an internal printer font, such as CG Times, Courier, or Univers. The following are the limitations of this method:
Document Font Printed Font ------------- ------------ Arial 10 point Courier 6 point Times New Roman 14 point CG Times 12 point Times New Roman 12 point CG Times 12 point |
