  • The Microsoft Network versions 1.0, 1.05, 1.2, 1.3, 2.0, 2.5

SUMMARY

By default on MSN, The Microsoft Network, you have access only to the Usenet newsgroups (comp, misc, news, rec, soc, sci, and talk). All other Internet newsgroups require full access.

MORE INFORMATION

If you want to access all the Internet newsgroups on MSN, you must request full access. To do so, follow these steps:

1.x

Navigate from the MSN Home screen to Categories\MSN Classic Categories\Internet Center\Classic Internet Center\Internet Newsgroups\ Full Newsgroup & Adult Access\Full Access Newsgroups Eform.

2.x

Navigate from the Essentials Home screen to MSN Classic & Custom Page\Classic Categories (this takes you to the MSN Classic area). Then navigate to Categories\MSN Classic Categories\Internet Center\ Classic Internet Center\Internet Newsgroups\Full Newsgroup & Adult Access\Full Access Newsgroups Eform.

NOTE: If you are using MSN 2.5, the above instructions are necessary only if you have installed MSN 2.5 over an earlier version of MSN. If MSN 2.5 is the first version of MSN you have installed on your computer, you are presented with a screen that prompts you to select between full and restricted access to Internet newsgroups the first time you connect to MSN.

You must have full access to view regional newsgroups, including newsgroups specific to your country (such as the fj and tnn newsgroups in Japan). Also note that full newsgroup access gives you access to adult newsgroups and areas with content that some people may find offensive.
