SUMMARYThis article describes how to disable the automatic running of CD-ROMs or the automatic playing of audio CDs in Windows 95.
MORE INFORMATIONTo disable both the automatic running of CD-ROMs and the automatic playing of audio CDs, follow these steps:
How CD-ROMs Are Run AutomaticallyWindows 95 polls repeatedly to detect if a CD-ROM has been installed. When a CD-ROM is detected, the volume is checked for an Autorun.inf file. If the volume contains an Autorun.inf file, programs listed on the "open=" line in the file are run. If the volume is an audio CD, Windows 95 performs the default action (if any) for the AudioCD file type. "Play" is the default action for the AudioCD file type until you follow the steps above.
