PUB3: Invalid CD-Key Error During Publisher Setup

SYMPTOMS

While you are installing Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95 from compact disc, you may encounter one or more of the following symptoms:

  • The space provided to type the CD-Key appears insufficient to enter 10 digits.
  • When you type the first digit of your CD-Key, you receive the following error message:

          This is an invalid CD Key value. Check the identification number
          from your CD sticker.
    

CAUSE

If the font called MS Sans Serif is missing or corrupt, you will encounter this problem.

RESOLUTION

Exit Setup and reinstall the MS Sans Serif font. After the MS Sans Serif font is reinstalled, you can run Microsoft Publisher Setup.
