SUMMARYIf your computer is infected with the NOINT virus and you try to install MS-DOS 6.x or an Microsoft Office 4.2 program, your 3.5-inch installation floppy disks are damaged if the write-protected notch is in the closed (not write-protected) position. The disks are left with 17 files on each disk and are unusable. When you try to install an Office 4.2 product, you receive the following error message:
SETUP.EXE could not be found MORE INFORMATIONThe 3.5-inch MS-DOS and Microsoft Office disks have write-protected tabs that enable you to write to the disks. The 5.25-inch disks are permanently write protected. If you were using MS-DOS disks, each infected disk may contain a file named "S<MSDOS 5.0." The following table shows the correct number of files for Disk 1 of each product for the 3.5-inch disk sets.

To obtain new installation disks, contact Microsoft Sales Information Center (MSIC) at 1-800-426-9400. To remove the NOINT virus, us Microsoft Anti-Virus included with MS-DOS 6.0 and later, or use a third party program.
