Troubleshooting Client Connections over Slow WAN Links

If remote clients that connect directly to your Internet Information Server over a slow dial-up connection experience connectivity problems, you can change specific Internet Information Server properties and Windows NT – based Registry parameters to resolve connection time-out problems. You can also change Registry parameters on remote Windows NT – based clients to adjust connection time-out problems.

You can change the behavior of TCP/IP, the protocol used for Internet communications, by changing the Registry parameters located in the following subkeys:

\AdapterName
\Parameters

In the previous subkey, AdapterName refers to the name of the network adapter to which TCP/IP is bound. Most adapters are named to indicate the name of the card. However, some are not. For example, a DEC adapter is named Lance1.
