About This Book

The Microsoft Word Developer's Kit includes introductory and advanced material about programming macros in WordBasic and complete reference information about the WordBasic language in Microsoft® Word version 6.0 and 7.0. Additional information about WordBasic extensions and the Word application programming interface (Word API) is included in the appendixes.

The Microsoft Word Developer's Kit disk provided in this book includes files
for use with WordBasic, the function libraries of extensions to WordBasic described in the appendixes, and the C programming tools required to program custom function libraries with the Word API. For information about installing files from the Microsoft Word Developer's Kit disk, see the following:

• For information about installing templates of WordBasic examples, as well as text files with more WordBasic information, see Chapter 1, "Introduction," in Part 1, "Learning WordBasic."
• For information about installing the workgroup extensions, see Appendix A, "Workgroup Extensions for Microsoft Word," in Part 3, "Appendixes."
• For information about installing the ODBC extensions, see Appendix B, "ODBC Extensions for Microsoft Word," in Part 3, "Appendixes."
• For information about installing the Word API programming tools and the
  files for a sample WLL, see Appendix C, "Microsoft Word Application Programming Interface," in Part 3, "Appendixes."

All WordBasic macro examples in Part 2, "WordBasic Reference," are available directly from the online Help available with the Microsoft Word package. For information about copying and using these examples, see Chapter 2, "Getting Started with Macros," in Part 1, "Learning WordBasic."

Note

Setup does not install WordBasic Help in the Typical installation. If you selected the Typical installation during Setup, you must rerun Setup to add WordBasic Help to your existing installation.
