PrevObject
Syntax
PrevObject
Remarks
Moves the insertion point to the previous document object on the current page in page layout view (the same as pressing ALT+UP ARROW (Windows) or OPTION+UP ARROW (Macintosh)). Document objects include frames, footnotes, table cells, and text columns.
From the top of the first text column on a page, the PrevObject statement moves through document objects in the following order:
- Frames, if any appear, in the order that they appear in normal view, from the following page break to the previous page break
- Each text column, in order from last to first (if there is more than one), moving through all footnotes and then all table cells that appear within the text column
PrevObject finally moves to the top of the first text column before cycling through the document objects again.
Keep the following points in mind when using PrevObject:
- You can identify document objects by selecting the Text Boundaries check box on the View tab in the Options dialog box (Tools menu).
- Word does not consider OLE objects, such as embedded drawings and charts, to be document objects unless they are framed.
- If the insertion point is in a header or footer, PrevObject moves between the header and footer.
- Make sure to switch to page layout view before using PrevObject.
