The functionality of software
applications varies substantially among different types of
products, so the Office Compatible 97 testing requirements must
be tailored to each of several broad categories. This reflects
the fact that an Office customer's expectations will vary from
one type of product to another. For example, if an Office
customer is using a document centric product, then they will
expect it to include an Open dialog box like the one used in
Office, but they won't expect a mainframe connectivity product to
do so. Instead, they'll expect it to include something along the
lines of a "New Mainframe Connection" dialog box. So
Office features must be adapted to different product categories,
and in some cases, certain Office features may not apply at all.
