Microsoft Windows Logo
Testing
As a general rule, all Office
Compatible 97 products must first pass Microsoft Windows logo
testing, which is conducted by Veritest in accordance with the
requirements developed by Microsoft. Exceptions exist for some
products, however, so read Office Compatible 97 Testing
Requirements to determine whether Windows logo testing is
required for your product.
Microsoft is currently revising
its Windows testing requirements to assure that desktop
applications run as well on Windows NT Workstation as on Windows
95. The new testing requirements are scheduled to be announced in
July 1996, and testing will be available immediately following
the announcement. Although plans for the new program had not been
finalized when this Office Compatible 97 Toolkit was released to
manufacturing, it is possible that the new logo program and the
current Windows 95 logo program will operate simultaneously for
several months. In other words, developers may be given the
option of qualifying for either the current Windows 95 logo or
the new logo or both. If so, then Office Compatible 97
participants must pass testing for the new program. As soon as
testing for the new program has begun, the existing Windows 95
logo will not be sufficient for Office Compatible 97 products.
