Security is not fully supported in OLE DB, Version 2.0.
Future Direction In the future, OLE DB will define interfaces that support authentication, authorization, and secure administration of access among users, groups, and resources. The role of security in OLE DB is to expose the relevant security functionality encapsulated in the security models of individual data providers or the underlying operating system on which they run, provide a pass-through layer of security interfaces through which the underlying security functionality can be made available to OLE DB consumers, and provide a unified view of security.
For information about the authentication properties defined in OLE DB, see "Initialization Properties" in Appendix C.
