The fundamental concept in MDX is that of a set. Each axis is composed of a set of tuples. The slicer condition (WHERE clause) is a set (usually with just one tuple). This section describes how to convert a set expression into a table.
Note This section is not exhaustive. That is, it does not describe how to map every single set value expression. Several representative set value expressions are considered for the purposes of illustration. The intention is to convey the concepts, which will help vendors to come up with mappings optimized for their SQL implementations.
