Setting the Selection Margin

The selection margin is an area to the left of each line of text. The selection margin is used to show breakpoints, temporary bookmarks, current and caller line, and error line. It also has special selection behavior — mostly the same as Microsoft Word for Windows.

From the Tools menu, choose Options.

Select the Editor tab.

Select the Selection margin check box.

Click OK.
To use the selection margin
When the mouse pointer is moved into the selection margin, it changes to a select arrow that points up and to the right (a mirror image of the standard select arrow).
Do any of the following:

Click in the margin to select the entire line to the right of the mouse pointer.

Click in the margin and move the mouse pointer to select multiple consecutive lines.

While holding down SHIFT, click in the margin and move the mouse pointer to extend a selection.

While holding down CTRL, click anywhere in the margin to select the entire file. (This is equivalent to choosing the Select All command from the Edit menu.)
To set the color of the selection margin

From the Tools menu, choose Options.

Click the Format tab.

In the Colors box, choose Selection Margin.

Set the foreground and background colors you want.

Click OK.
