Use this dialog box to identify the Microsoft® Visual SourceSafe™ project you want to associate with a master Web application. Even though multiple developers may have projects referencing the application, you only need to do this once per application.
For more information about using source control with Microsoft® Visual InterDev™, see Working with Multiple Developers.
Type an identifier for the Visual SourceSafe project. A Visual SourceSafe project is a collection of files stored in Visual SourceSafe and is set up automatically when you use this dialog box. Typically, this source control project name is the same as the Web project you are working in. By default, the new Visual SourceSafe project is added at the root level of the Visual SourceSafe tree ($\).
If the project name you supply is the same as an existing Visual SourceSafe project, the files from the existing project are added to your Web application.
If Microsoft® Visual InterDev™ is unable to place a Web application under source control, contact your system administrator to verify your permissions on the Web server or verify that Visual SourceSafe has been installed on the Web server.
To enable source control, the Web application must be on a Web server that also has Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 5.0 or later installed.
Note After you’ve installed Visual SourceSafe on a Web server, you must grant read/write permissions to all users whom you want to be able to author files using Visual InterDev or Microsoft ® FrontPage®.
