Platform SDK: Access Control

Client/Server Access Control

In the client/server model, clients connect to a server to access the server's functionality and data. A protected server controls access to its functionality and data based on the identity and privileges of its clients.

Microsoft® Windows NT®/Windows® 2000 provides a set of security functions that a protected server can use for access control. These functions extend the Windows NT/Windows 2000 access-control model to control access to private objects and to server functionality.
