Phase II Core Requirements

These requirements become effective when Microsoft Windows 2000 is released.

Requirement Met (Yes/No) Description
Provide support for Kerberos authentication protocol No Support for public keys as an enhancement to Windows 2000 security; application provides a Kerberos ticket for remote access over public networks and the Internet.
Application administration tools function as snap-ins to the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) No Application administration tools will support a central administration strategy by supporting MMC.
Application instrumentation No Applications/services will use the Common Information Model (CIM) to provide Windows management information and events through Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM).
Use Directory Services No Applications must support policy-based management, Active Directory services, and distributed file services.
