Visual Database Tools

The Microsoft Visual Database Tools suite consists of the following five components:

• Data View
• Database Designer
• Query Designer
• Visual Studio® source code editor (for stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database script files)
• SQL Server™ Database Wizard

Microsoft Visual Database Tools are available in Microsoft Visual InterDev™ and Microsoft Visual C++® 5.0 Enterprise Edition, and as an add-in for Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 Enterprise Edition.

Microsoft Visual Database Tools allow the CML development team to integrate the CML SQL Server database with the CML application. In addition, these tools provide an alternative to the SQL Server 7.0 Enterprise Manager for performing most common database activities such as viewing tables, modifying data, and creating SQL queries.

The CML development team uses Visual Database Tools as follows:

• Database Designer to design and modify the CML database, as well as connect to and explore the CML SQL Server database.
• Database Designer to design objects, such as tables and stored procedures, in the CML SQL Server database.
• Database Designer to add, update, and delete data stored in database tables.
• Query Designer to design, execute, and save CML queries.
