Before installation of the CML application, the following software had been installed on a server computer at Fitch & Mather:
Note To make full use of the security offered by Windows NT 4.0, F & M developers chose to format the data drive of the server as NTFS. Unlike FAT, NTFS allows users to use increased security measures such as folder permissions. For more information on the FAT and NTFS file systems of Windows NT, query for "FAT File System" or "NTFS File System" in the Microsoft Platform SDK on the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN™) CD-ROM.
Note IIS and MTS are shipped with the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack. The Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack can be downloaded for free from http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/downloads/recommended/NT4OptPk/default.asp
Note If Microsoft Visual Studio® 6.0 is not installed on the host computer, you need to install version 4.0 or later of the scripting engines. Because version 4.0 is not shipped separately from the Visual Studio release, you must either install Visual Studio 6.0 or the beta versions of JScript 5.0 and Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript) 5.0 on the host server. For more information see http://msdn.microsoft.com/scripting.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 and Windows NT Service Pack 4 must be installed on the target system before you install the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack. Internet Explorer 4.01 delivers several system-level files (DLLs) to Windows NT Server 4.0. These files provide functionality for Microsoft Management Console, the Java Virtual Machine, and other features delivered to Windows NT Server 4.0 through the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack. While Internet Explorer 4.01 is required on the system, it does not prohibit your use of other browsers.
