Maintaining Library Titles
The CML administrative staff must be able to maintain information in the library database. The CML Web pages provide these data entry interfaces:
- View the library catalog. All titles in the library are listed. Each row contains title, call number, collection (media type), ISBN (International Standard Book Number), published date, and publisher. The Library Catalog page provides links to the Add/Edit Title and Add/Edit Items pages.
- Add and modify titles. The Add/Edit Title page allows administrators to add and modify library title information. To change a title, click the title you want to modify in the Library Catalog page; the Add/Edit Title page then displays the selected title. To add a new title, click the Add New Titles button in the Library Catalog page; a blank Add/Edit Title page appears, ready for data entry. This page provides a link to the title detail view.
- Add and modify items in the library. Items are copies of library titles. The Add/Edit Items page allows administrators to add and modify library item information. To change an item, click the item you want to modify in the Library Catalog page; the Add/Edit Items page displays the selected item. To add a new item, click the Add New Items button in the Library Catalog page; a blank Add/Edit Items page appears, ready for data entry. This page provides a link to the title detail view.
- Assign authors to titles. The Assign Authors page allows you to select author(s) from the displayed list, or to enter a new author. The new author is added to the list when you click the Add New Author button. Selected author(s) are assigned to the title. Multiple authors can also be selected, as well as selected author(s) deleted.
- Assign subjects to titles. The Assign Subjects page allows you to select subject(s) from the displayed list, or to enter a new subject. The new subject is added to the list when you click the Add New Subject button. Selected subject(s) are assigned to the title. Multiple subjects can also be selected, as well as selected subject(s) deleted.
- Check in library materials. The Check In Materials page allows an administrator to check in a library item by bar code.
- Check out library materials. The View Requests and Check Out page allows the administrator to see the requests for each library title and fill the first request.
