Critique Enhancements to the CML Application
The literary critique tool, designed as an extension to the Corporate Media Library (CML) application, gives Fitch & Mather employees the ability to read and submit critiques from the Web, using Microsoft® Internet Explorer. Library titles can have multiple critiques and the user needs a way to quickly locate the critique of interest within a list of reviews. The average overall rating of a title, calculated from the rating furnished in each critique, now appears on CML Web pages. This provides a useful way for employees to share summary opinions of library items without having to read detailed reviews. The navigation within the CML Web application needs modification to give easy access to critique functionality.
Enhancements to the CML fall into three categories:
- Adding the Choose Critique Web page. This page only appears when critiques are available for the selected title. When multiple reviews exist, you can sort the content of this page to quickly locate critiques of interest.
- Adding the Submit and Display Critique Web pages. The application needs Web pages to submit and display critiques. The Submit Critique page is used to add and edit critiques. When you attempt to add a critique for a title you have already reviewed, your existing critique appears in edit mode with the critique and evaluation sections of the page filled in with information from your previous critique. If you have not previously reviewed the title the page is in add mode and these fields are blank.
- Enhancing existing CML Web pages. To provide access to critique functionality and display the average overall rating of titles, the Search Results and Search Details Web pages require modification. The critique applications (Web and Outlook) need additional settings that CML administrators can use to manage the critique features, and new fields are added to the Application Settings Web page.
