Designing Consistent User Interfaces

To make it easier for reviewers to alternate between using the LitCrit Outlook® client and using the critique features of the Corporate Media Library (CML) application it is desirable to create a consistent user experience between the LitCrit Outlook form and the critique Web pages of the CML.

A consistent user experience can be created by:

• Grouping Fields. Divide the Outlook and browser forms into similar functional areas.
• Using Controls in a Consistent Manner. Choose the same type of control to perform the same task in the two user interfaces and apply consistent actions across the two applications.
• Applying One Set of Business Rules. Use the same data validation in the Outlook and Web applications. Display similar alerts in the two applications.
