Installing the CML/LitCrit Application

The Corporate Media Library (CML) application is the basis of Scenario 2. The procedures you need to follow to deploy the CML are detailed in the Deployment section in the Scenario 1 part of this guide.

Additional procedures follow that explain how to install and configure the rest of Scenario 2, in particular the LitCrit public folder application and the elements that make it run together with the CML.

But first, here is a complete list, in order, of the procedures you need to follow to get the combined CML/LitCrit applications to work. Some of these procedures (Original CML Installation Procedures) are in Scenario 1's Deployment section and the rest of them (Additional CML/LitCrit Installation Procedures) are found in the later topics within this section.

Note  The files used in these procedures are different for Scenario 1 and Scenario 2. If you are deploying the Scenario 1 CML application, use the files in the FmLib folder that resides in the Samples folder at the same level as the LitCrit folder. If you are deploying the Scenario 2 CML/LitCrit application, use the FmLib files that reside in the FmLib folder below the LitCrit folder. In both cases, the procedures assume a clean install, that is, you are installing the application for the first time following the server installation.

Original CML Installation Procedures

To install the sample application on the host computer

  1. Install BackOffice Server.
  2. Start operating system services.
  3. Create group accounts in Windows NT Server.
  4. Install SQL Server 7.0.
  5. Install the CML sample files.
  6. Set up an application root.
  7. Set up security in BackOffice Server.
  8. Assign custom error messages.
  9. Install the CML MTS package.
  10. Assign MTS roles.
  11. Set up Exchange mailboxes.
  12. Create the FmLib database.
  13. Schedule SQL Server tasks.
  14. Create the ODBC DSN.
  15. Create the FmLib project.
  16. Specify application settings.

Additional CML/LitCrit Installation Procedures

The following procedures augment the preceding list. In other words, after you have completed the procedures listed in Original CML Installation Procedures, finish the installation of the combined CML/LitCrit application by completing these procedures:

  1. Install the CML/LitCrit sample files.
  2. Register the CML/LitCrit server-side components.
  3. Update the CML MTS package.
  4. Enable CML.Search for launch by RDS.
  5. Publish the EnhancedLitCrit form.
  6. Create and configure the LitCrit public folder.
  7. Create a folder view.
  8. Set a Default View for the LitCrit Public Folder.
  9. Set permissions on the LitCrit public folder.
  10. Associate the EnhancedLitCrit form with the LitCrit public folder.
  11. Install the LitCrit Event Service Agent.
  12. Set up Outlook Web Access.
  13. Add the LitCrit form to Outlook Web Access.
  14. Update the SQL Server database for CML/LitCrit.
  15. Add user accounts in SQL Server Enterprise Manager.

Important  Two kinds of deployment procedures exist. You need to perform the procedures listed under "Installing the CML/LitCrit Sample Application" in order to install and run the CML/LitCrit application as it is distributed. However, if your development team will be developing an application like CML/LitCrit, or recoding any of the elements of CML/LitCrit itself, you first need to perform procedures listed under "Setting Up Your Development Environment."
