Flexibility is a key feature of the PT application. The application provides general functionality for any arena in which individuals' achievements are discrete and measurable. Although the PT application is somewhat customizable, it might not be suitable for use in fields with extremely complex testing and training processes.
Different fields of interest use different vocabularies to express their basic concepts. This application directly supports two such fields, which this guide calls arenas. As the Planning and Research section describes, the two arenas are a hardware store and a generalized arena that could be adapted to a school environment. To illustrate an additional layer of customization, speakers of certain languages other than English can use parts of the PT application. The following table lists the arenas that the PT application supports, and specifies the parts of the PT application that are available in more than one language.
Language | Generic arena | Hardware store arena |
---|---|---|
English | PT Admin and PT User | PT Admin and PT User |
German | (No support) | PT Admin |
Japanese | (No support) | PT Admin |
Note In this scenario, both the PT Admin and PT User applications were designed, but only the PT Admin application was implemented. Consequently, only the arena and language combinations for the PT Admin application are currently available.
You need to know your arena before setting up this application because you choose the arena at installation time. Although the PT application described here includes only the arenas and languages indicated, you could customize it to serve other arenas and languages. For information on how to deploy multiple arenas, see Deploying Multiple Arenas. You can use this information as a model on which to could base the creation and deployment of custom arenas.
