Reinstalling Microsoft Exchange Server

When you select the Reinstall option to restore the registry or to upgrade a computer running Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0 to version 5.0, Setup does the following:

• Checks the version of the existing installation.
• Overwrites the appropriate files.
• Modifies the registry entries.
• Sets values in the directory.

Setup does not overwrite templates because they can be customized by users. Setup also does not modify the database files for the information store or directory.
