Running Microsoft Exchange Performance Optimizer is important during recovery to ensure that the recovery server is tuned properly. Hardware being equal, similar performance can be experienced following a full restore when Microsoft Exchange Server is reinstalled to a recovery server. Note that the Performance Optimizer log stored in the Winnt\System32\perfopt.log directory does not display the specific settings that were chosen during optimization.
