Backlogged Private Information Store Queue

Run the Performance Monitor Server Queues chart view to determine whether the private information store queue is the bottleneck. This chart view shows how many messages the private information store is delivering to mailboxes. If the private information store is causing the mail to be delayed, your chart will look similar to the one in the following illustration.

To improve the speed of message processing in the private information store queue do any of the following:

• Restrict the amount or type of mail users can send. For example, require users to send mail to public folders instead of distribution lists.
• Move some or all mailboxes to another server.
• Add more disks to the stripe set.
• Use multiple disk controllers.
• Add one or more caching disk controllers that cache read and write operations.
