Make sure you are protected by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). Do not assume that if the Microsoft Exchange Server computer did not fail during a power outage, no other servers failed. Although many computer rooms are supposedly UPS protected, it is possible that not all of the outlets are UPS protected. If you do not have a dedicated UPS, talk to the local electricians or operations personnel about how the circuits are configured and test the outlets. Also note that server-class UPS batteries have a life expectancy of approximately three years and might require replacement.
