After you complete the pilot project, you should diagram it. To do so, make sure that you have complete records of all activities associated with your pilot project before you disconnect any cords or other components. Your final documentation should include a record of all the changes you made, as well any cost-benefit analyses.
The hierarchy you developed during the initial site hierarchy planning stages (see “Choosing a Site Hierarchy” earlier in this chapter) and the pilot project hierarchy diagram will enable you to refine your final site hierarchy design. The first diagram you created was based heavily on your organization’s business and operational issues. Your final site design will probably closely resemble this diagram. The diagram you created after you ran the pilot project will enable you to identify the hardware you need to make SMS function smoothly in your site hierarchy.
