Before deploying SMS in a multilingual site hierarchy, you should consider the following installation issues:
Local-language versions of SMS server and client software are only supported on the matching local-language version of the operating system. For example, the French-language version of the SMS server software is not supported on a German-language operating system. The German, French, Japanese, Korean, and Traditional and Simplified Chinese versions of SMS clients and servers are only to be installed on their respective language operating systems. The only exception is the English version of the SMS server software, which is supported on all language operating systems.
You must install all current and future code pages in your site onto each site server or the SMS site database server. In the case of Windows NT Server version 4.0, you can do this by installing the Windows NT language pack.
If a site hierarchy includes computers using different code pages, you must name all network resources by using standard ASCII characters (codes 0 through 127). This includes all computer names, share names, user names, user group names, domain names, and site codes. If computers in your SMS site hierarchy all use a common code page, there are no language-specific restrictions on network resource names.
