Local Language Display Configuration Tasks
Although the English version of the SMS 2.0 server software supports all the client languages listed in Table 3.2, you must perform the following configuration tasks to display non-ASCII characters generated by these clients:
- The Locale setting of the computer running the SMS Administrator console must match the language of the data you want to view or enter. For example, if you want to view Russian-language hardware inventory data or distribute a software package with a Russian name, the SMS Administrator console you use must be running on an operating system on which the locale is set to Russian. To set the locale, in Control Panel, double-click the Regional Settings icon, click the Regional Settings tab, and then select the appropriate locale.
- To view data in Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, or Korean, you must have the appropriate localized version of the SMS Administrator console running on the matching language version of the operating system. Because the English-language server does not support display of these DBCS language characters, for example, an administrator in Vancouver who wants to view data from Tokyo should set up a Japanese-localized computer running the Chinese version of the SMS Administrator console in order to view the data in the Chinese language.
