MOF Manager Tool (MOFMan.exe)

Use the MOF Manager tool to edit the SMS_def.mof file. This file is the Managed Object Format (MOF) file that specifies which hardware classes and attributes are collected for hardware inventory. The MOF Manager tool will not work with any other MOF files.

Using MOF Manager

Before you edit the SMS_def.mof file, make a backup copy of this file and copy it to another location.

Note MOF Manager can only be used to edit the SMS_def.mof file. If you try to use MOF Manager to open any other MOF file, you will receive an error message.

MOF Manager user interface with Win32BIOS class selected in Class List pane. The CodeSet attribute, set to False, is selected in the Property List pane.
