Use the Remote Control Settings tool to set the default protocol and Lana number, and to set the Update Enabled setting to enable or disable multisite Remote Control security settings. If the Update Enable setting is enabled, the security settings for all the sites the client belongs to will be combined and the most restrictive of the settings will be used.
You can send the Remote Control Settings tool to clients as part of a software distribution package. On 32-bit computers, you can run this tool from the command line. However, on 16-bit computers, you must run this tool from Program Manager or File Manager by clicking Run on the File menu.
Processors: i386, Alpha
Operating systems: Windows NT 4.0, Windows NT 3.51, Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows for Workgroups 3.11, Windows 3.1.
You can install the Remote Control Settings tool by running the Microsoft BackOffice 4.5 Resource Kit Setup program or by copying the required files to the desired location.
RCCliopt.exe
rccliopt [yes | no] [TCP | IPX | NetBIOS] Lana_number
You must disable the Update Enabled setting (set it to no) when using this tool to change the default protocol. Otherwise, the protocol change will be overridden during the next client security settings update. If this setting is set to no, none of the security and permissions settings can be overridden by a site. However, if the user at the client has the right to modify local security and permission settings, those settings might still be changed by the user and implemented by the client.
If this setting is set to yes, the remote control security settings for all sites the client belongs to will be combined and the most restrictive of the settings will be used. If another site specified a different default protocol, the changes you make to the default protocol with this tool will not persist.
The following is an example of command-line input for this tool:
rccliopt no NetBios L3
