If real-time license verification is enabled, licenses are granted when clients request them, if they are available at the software metering server. The software metering server keeps its data cache updated with information about each license request, including whether the application requested was a licensed product, if the license request could be granted because a license was available, and if the license request had to be denied and a callback option offered to the user. The software metering server also interacts with the site server so that licenses can be balanced, allowing more license requests to be granted.
The actions in this flowchart take place on the software metering client, the local software metering license server, and the site server.
For information on license balancing among the software metering servers in a site, see Figure 22.2, “Software Metering: Site Server License Balancing.” For information about callback options, see Figure 22.5, “Software Metering: Callback Processing.”
