This flowchart documents the processing of status messages that are generated by client components. When a client component generates a status message, it can be configured to report the message to the Windows NT Event Log on the client and to report the message to the site server. Messages that are configured for reporting to the site server are forwarded to the CAP and then to the site server where they are processed by Status Manager and stored in the SMS site database. The Status Filter Rules you configure on the site server determine which messages are stored and how long they are kept in the database.
All of the actions illustrated in this flowchart take place on the client.
For information about how status messages are processed at the site server, see Figure 23.4, “Status Manager,” and the two status flowcharts, Figures 23.2 and 23.3 in Chapter 23, “Diagnostics Flowcharts.”
