Status Messages

The status messages that Systems Management Server (SMS) version 2.0 reports are the central feature of the SMS status system. You can configure the SMS status system to notify you when status messages indicate that errors have occurred. The status system also generates automatic messages that appear in Windows NT message boxes when your site requires administrator attention. You can view status messages in the Status Message Viewer on a per-component or a per-site system basis. You can also use the many status message queries that are provided with SMS to give you specific information about your site. Or, you can create your own queries.

This chapter contains tables that list the status messages reported by SMS 2.0. The first section of this chapter, “Status Message Introduction,” describes the types of information contained in SMS status messages. The status messages themselves are then listed in the following four sections:

To gain the most out of the information in this chapter, you should have a thorough understanding of Chapter 20, “Understanding the SMS Status System” in the SMS 2.0 Administrator’s Guide.
