Providing Fault Tolerance

LU pools can also provide fault-tolerant connections to users. When a particular resource, such as a host connection, fails, a feature called fault tolerance allows for a similarly configured resource to automatically fill in and support the needed functions. Hot backup can be implemented across host connections on the same server, or across several servers in a domain (Figure 5.3). Fault tolerance is a recommended strategy for any sized enterprise, and helps to provide reliable host access to your users.
