Platform SDK: CDO for Windows 2000 |
CDO for Windows 2000 can send messages using either a local SMTP or NNTP pickup directory, or over the network using the SMTP or NNTP protocols. The component therefore does not require a local SMTP or NNTP service to function. To send messages, you must have network or local access to an SMTP or NNTP service.
Transport event sinks written using CDO must reside on the same machine as the source SMTP or NNTP service. If you wish to install transport event sinks using CDO, you must have access to a machine with an SMTP or NNTP service installed.
CDO for Windows 2000 requires the Microsoft ActiveX® Data Objects 2.5 COM component to function. This component is also an integral part of the Windows 2000 series of operating systems and therefore does not need to be installed.
