GetNumberOfEventLogRecords

The GetNumberOfEventLogRecords function retrieves the number of records in the specified event log.

BOOL GetNumberOfEventLogRecords(
  HANDLE hEventLog,        // handle to event log
  PDWORD NumberOfRecords   // buffer for number of records
);

Parameters

hEventLog

[in] Handle to the open event log. This handle is returned by the OpenEventLog or OpenBackupEventLog function.

NumberOfRecords

[out] Pointer to the buffer that receives the number of records in the specified event log.

Return Values

If the function succeeds, the return value is nonzero.

If the function fails, the return value is zero. To get extended error information, call GetLastError.

  Windows NT/2000: Requires Windows NT 3.1 or later.
  Windows 95/98: Unsupported.
  Header: Declared in Winbase.h; include Windows.h.
