Address Mapping

A gateway is responsible for delivering messages to the correct recipient. This usually involves translating between address types. For outgoing messages, your gateway must ensure that recipient addresses are in a form compatible with the foreign system. For incoming messages, it must be able to translate recipient addresses from the foreign system’s format into proxy addresses that it can look up in the Microsoft Exchange Server directory.
