Platform SDK: Exchange Server |
A proxy address is a user’s Microsoft Exchange Server address translated to a foreign system address type. When an Addr-Type object is installed, its associated proxy generation DLL is called to generate new proxy addresses for all Microsoft Exchange Server users.
Using a hypothetical person named Pat Parkes, the following table shows examples of addresses a user might have on three different systems.
Mail system | Address |
---|---|
Microsoft Exchange Server | EX:/o=microsoft/ou=sales/cn=recipients/ cn=PatParkes |
SMTP | SMTP:PatParkes@microsoft.com |
MS Mail | MS:microsoft/sales/PatParkes |
When a gateway transfers a message, it must convert all the recipient addresses from the format of the originating system into the format of the receiving system.
