Adding the Workflow System Account
Exchange 2000 Server setup installs Workflow components by default. You need to add a Workflow System account that is a member of Domain EXServers group in order for the workflow event sink to run with proper privileges. You use the Active Directory Users and Computers and Component Services administrative tools to do this.
Here are the steps:
- Pick an existing account from your Windows 2000 domain, or create a new account. These instructions assume you have created an account named "Workflow System Account". Set the account's password to never expire.
- Ensure the "Workflow System Account" has an Exchange mailbox.
- Make the "Workflow System Account" a member of the Windows 2000 group named "Domain EXServers". This will allow the CDO Workflow Event Sink to execute with proper privileges.
- Using the Windows 2000 Component Services administrative tool, under "Component Services" select your computer. Then select the COM+ application named Workflow Event Sink. Choose Action.Properties.
- Choose the Identity tab. Click "This user", and enter the name & password for "Workflow System Account".
- Finally, the Workflow Event Sink account must be configured to 'act as part of the operating system' (allow impersonation) using the 'Domain Controller Security Policy' management console.
