In some cases email address properties on CDOEXM interfaces are represented as Windows Active Directory paths. While you may enter standard email addresses, they will be converted to Active Directory paths. To complete a LDAP URL using an Active Directory path you typically must add "LDAP://<server>/" and "CN=<first tree item>" .
For example, setting the IMailboxStore.HomeMDB to “user1@somewhere.microsoft.com” will result in the HomeMDB value being set to the AD name (e.g. cn=Private MDB,cn=First Storage Group,...)
