Internet Standard Message Formats

The Web Store and the Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) for Microsoft® Exchange 2000 Server are designed around Internet standards that specify how messages should be formatted for sending data across a network. CDO uses these specifications to format messages when they are transmitted or serialized, and can also process any message that is in this format. Messages are stored in the Exchange public and private Web Store in Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) format as files with the .eml extension.
