Messaging and the Exchange Web Store
[This is preliminary documentation and subject to change.]
Exchange’s public and private Web Stores are based upon Web Store technologies. In this section, you are introduced to new technology for messaging applications.
The following list outlines the new messaging features for a private Web Store:
- Messaging Content Classes The Web Store and applications use content classes to define the intent or purpose of an item. A rich set of content classes used with messaging applications are provided, and your applications can extend these classes to define in finer detail the purpose of messaging items present in the Web Store.
- Automatic Property Promotion The Web Store automatically sets properties for messaging items from values contained within the message stream.
- The Exchange Mail Submission URI Each Exchange private Web Store provides a special Universal Resource Identifier (URI) for each mailbox that is used to send messages. Similar to the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), you can send messages using this URI through the Web Store OLE DB provider, Exchange OLE DB (ExOLEDB), and through the HTTP/WebDAV protocol.
