There are two kinds of persisted search folders: dynamic and static. Static search folders contain references to items within the searched folder scope that matched the conditions you specified at the time you initiated the creation of the search folder. Items that are subsequently created, moved, or deleted from the searched folder scope are not reflected within the static search folder until an update is requested. Dynamic search folders, on the other hand, are automatically updated when changes occur within the searched folder scope: if new items are added to folders that match the scope and conditions you specified in your SQL SELECT command when you created the search folder, these new items are dynamically added to the persisted search folder. Items that are moved or deleted from the searched folder scope are dynamically removed from the search folder.
Dynamic search folders, because they are continuously updated with changes made to the searched folder scope, are much more process and resource intensive than static folders. Judicious use of dynamic search folders is recommended; too many dynamic search folders active at one time can affect the performance of the server.
