The importance is schema scope is manifest in two ways:
To get the desired search results and field collections, you must configure the schema so that the Web Store SQL search engine and OLE DB provider know the locations of property and content class definitions.
Two properties from the urn:schemas-microsoft-com:exch-data namespace are examined for schema locations:
This property, set on an application folder, is a single URL to a schema folder containing content class and property definitions.
This property, set on a schema folder, is a multivalued array of URLs to one or more schema folders. It provides dependent schema information not already located by the search engine.
The schema folder that serves as the top-level, or most generic, schema folder should have a URL in the baseschema property that points to the non_ipm_subtree in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This folder contains core schema provided by the Web Store.
The following figure shows the settings for the schema-collection-ref and baseschema properties.
