DBT_DEVICEARRIVAL

The system broadcasts the DBT_DEVICEARRIVAL device event when a device has been inserted and becomes available.

To broadcast this device event, the system uses the WM_DEVICECHANGE message with wParam set to DBT_DEVICEARRIVAL and lParam set as described following.

Parameters

wParam

Set to DBT_DEVICEARRIVAL.

lParam

Pointer to a structure identifying the device inserted. To determine the structure type, treat the structure as a DEV_BROADCAST_HDR structure and check its dbch_devicetype member.

Return Values

Return TRUE.

Requirements

  Windows NT/2000: Requires Windows 2000.
  Windows 95/98: Requires Windows 95 or later.
